Back to School: Keeping Kids Organized.

Back to school is approaching and so will the tsunami of paper your child is going to soon be bringing home. All that paperwork can be overwhelming! Here are a few tips to help minimize the paper clutter coming your way.

  1. Create a command center, or a drop zone for when the kids come home. Have them, or help them to empty out their backpack. Sort into categories: important for now (homework for the next day, field trip permission slip, etc) and sentimental or special.

  2. Create a place to store the sentimental or special items such as art work. A filing system for each child separating items by grades is a great way to keep track of it all. Or digitizing is a fantastic way to ensure those items last a lifetime.

  3. Create a place in your home for your kids to do their home work, maybe a desk in their room or a quiet place in the kitchen. Wherever it is make sure the supplies they need are accessible so that the homework zone doesn’t turn into the whole house.

These small changes to your home and routine can really help to keep that paper clutter at bay. Those first few weeks of school can be stressful for all involved so why not make it more successful!
