Tidying Your Tech: Organizing Your Digital Life
Just like you feel better after a deep clean or a major decluttering in your home, decluttering your digital life will leave you feeling refreshed, and your tech will likely run much more efficiently. Bonus!!
DOWNLOADS FOLDER:
Clear out your downloads folder. Usually you do not need what is in that downloaded folder and if you do need it again you will likely be able to find it very easily. So don’t spend too much time looking at each item.
APPLICATIONS:
Spend some time looking through your applications. It is very possible that there are apps that you simply don’t use, or maybe would like to delete due to wasting time or money on them.
PHOTOS:
This is the hardest step for most. Take a moment to create some basic folders such as: 1 folder for each kid, vacation folder, recipe folder, family photos folder, so forth and so on. You don’t want to be too specific when it comes to folders, this will create confusion when it comes to placing photos into the folders. Next take a few photos at a time and move them into their respective folders.
FILES:
This step may take a bit of time so be patient with yourself. Take the same approach as we did with the photos and create some simple folders (you can always create more as you go along). Start with your pain points, if there is a document that you seem to always be struggling to find start with that, this way you will see the benefit of categorizing and organizing your files and you will be motivated to stick with it!
