Turn Your Home Office Into A Productive Paradise
Home offices are all the rage since the pandemic. Many have found their home office work space has gone from temporary to permanent, and yet they are still working at the kitchen table! If you are tired of not having a designated work space, or you do have one but you are looking to make it a more productive comfortable space then you are at the right blog.
Every item at your desk should have a “home” and at the end of each day every item should be put away so that you get a fresh start at the beginning of your new work day. To create these zones or homes for your office items first analyze what you have and eliminate whatever is unnecessary to your work, then categorize what is left. Categories can look something like this: writing utensils, incoming paperwork, outgoing paperwork, to be filed paperwork, office supplies, chargers, etc. Next think about your work flow, what is essential to your everyday that you need to keep close by? Everything else that is not essential should be stored out of sight so that you can focus on the task at hand, try to keep only the bare minimum on top of the desk itself.
Follow my 7 steps below to turn your office into a productive paradise.
1. Begin by eliminating unnecessary items from your home office. Sort through paperwork, files, and office supplies to keep only what is essential.
2. Cable Management: Tackle the cable chaos by using cable organizers or clips to keep them neat and prevent tangling. This will eliminate visual clutter making the space feel more relaxing.
3. Invest in Storage Solutions: Opt for efficient storage options such as shelves, filing cabinets, and storage bins to keep your essentials neat and easily accessible.
4. Establish a Routine: Set aside a few minutes each day to prevent clutter from piling up and to maintain a clean workspace.
5. Prioritize Ergonomics: You want to be comfortable and this will also contribute to your overall well-being and productivity.
6. Utilize Vertical Space: Make the most of wall space by installing shelves or wall organizers. This way you can keep frequently used items in arm’s reach.
7. Designate Workspace: Even if you are working from your dining room you should have some sort of designated space dedicated to your work items. A rolling cart is a great way to keep your office supplies organized while being able to quickly put it away for company.
