5 Tips to Organize Your Kitchen
Our kitchens probably get the most traffic out of all of the rooms in our home. So it is no wonder it can be one of the most challenging to keep organized. Read the following 5 tips to turn your kitchen into an organized dream!
Keep counters clutter free
Let’s face it, our kitchens are never going to be completely organized all of the time, after all we live there! If the kitchen counters are as clutter-free as possible it can help us feel the tranquility that being organized can bring. By finding space for the things that used to sit on our counters we can have easier end of day resets and wake up to clean kitchens!
2. Create zones/systems
The way this looks may be different for each family. Perhaps a family that enjoys baking may have a “baking zone”. Or for a family that does a weekly taco night, they might choose to have a “taco zone”. In my house I have a “breakfast zone” here I store my peanut butter, honey, bagels, toasts, and cereals. Here are some categories that could be used as specific zones:
Oils/vinegars
Pasta
Rice
Canned Goods
Cereals
Snacks
Spreads/Jams
Pro Tip! Don’t be too specific when it comes to these zones. If you typically only store 1 box of pasta you don’t need to set aside a whole section for pastas. Maybe you would choose to store it with jars of sauce and breadcrumbs and label it your Italian zone. Which brings us to our next tip!
3. Label Everything
I know that you all are sick of me with the labeling. I can hear you now, “enough with the labels Taylor!” Unless you live alone though, labels are key to keeping a space organized.
4. Keep everything in sight and accessible
When it comes to your kitchen cabinets and pantry it is so important to be able to see what you have. If not you could end up buying extras of things you already have. Unless you like having 6 jars of celery salt…
If you have deep shelves this can prove to be challenging. 2 possible solutions to this are to make use of products. Bins that are easy to pull out are a great option for storing multiples. Lazy susans are my favorite option for oils and vinegars.
5. Make good use of drawer space
Clean out your drawers and decide if you can live without any of the utensils. Then measure the drawer space and invest in drawer dividers. Drawers are great places to store your spices! It keeps them visible for easy cooking.
You can make your kitchen a beautiful room that inspires creativity!
