How Do I Organize My Home Like A Professional?
There are SO many benefits to being organized, you can save time (who doesn’t need more of that?!) and money just to name a few. Before getting started on a space though you need to be sure you are ready. When client’s reach out to me they are at the “enough is enough” point, they are tired of looking at clutter and are ready to take drastic measures. Feeling ready? Here is my step by step process for getting ANY space organized.
Pull everything out of the space, absolutely everything. This is a very overwhelming step but it can help you to see just how much you truly have in that space.
Categorize. You can do this step as you are pulling everything out. For example if you are working in your junk drawer some categories might be: writing utensils, batteries, paper clips, rubber bands and of course trash (but please just throw it away)
Space Plan. Map out where you would like to store each type of item to make it function well for the whole family.
Measure twice…or even three times. Let’s stick with the junk drawer example. Measure the width, length and don’t forget the height. In addition, measure the items that you need to store, there is nothing sadder than buying a bin that is too small.
Shop! I recommend looking online first. See what type of products are available and what would suit your needs best.
Organize! Now comes the fun part. Put everything away according to your plan.
Breathe a sigh of relief. Feels good don’t it? Careful though, it’s contagious! Watch out clutter, we’re coming for you!
