Where Do I Start?

If clutter is overwhelming you the moment you walk in the door and robbing you of the peace you should have at home, you may be thinking: “enough is enough!” But… where should you even start? Let’s tackle that question in this blog post!

If this picture reminds you of your house, read on my friend!

If there is a particular space in your home that causes you anxiety everyday and is hindering your ability to relax completely than this should be the first place you start. I know it will be overwhelming to tackle first but it will also be the space that will create the biggest impact in your everyday life.

Now, if there is no one space that stands out but rather several spaces around your home this is where it gets more tricky to know where to begin. Tip #1: Do not start in a place that contains sentimental items. You will get there during your organization journey eventually, but it is not a good place to start. You will tire out emotionally and lose your motivation to continue on your decluttering adventure. Tip #2: Start small. For example: You have an entire craft room that is just overflowing, start with a single drawer, empty it out completely, throw out what you do not need and put the items back. Don’t worry about the organizing part until you have completed decluttering each part of the craft room. Tip #3: Set a timer. You can do almost anything for 30 minutes. Set a timer and get to work, but as soon as the timer is done your done! Better yet, put on your favorite show or some happy music to make the time fly.
