Decrease The Stress Of Moving

FREE MOVING CHECKLIST BELOW

Death of a loved one, divorce and moving are the top 3 most stressful life events. Moving is obviously a very stressful event, and if you are in the midst of a move right now you are in the right place. In this post I am going to talk about 5 ways that you can reduce the stress of moving.

  1. Sell, donate and toss. Now is the time to go through each and every item you own. I know that this sounds daunting, however if you just pack it to deal with later it is going to be much more stressful. Be brutal with your possessions, ask yourself: Do I love this item? Does this item serve a purpose? Is this item sentimental, and if so, how sentimental is it really?

  2. Pack a first few days bag. This should have essentials for at least the first week in the new place. Your essential bag should include things like: bedsheets, clothing, toiletries, paper plates/silverware, toilet paper, etc

  3. Label every single box.

  4. Don’t procrastinate. Start as soon as possible with the decluttering stage.

  5. Hire and professional organizer. If the task just seems too daunting, maybe you can alleviate the stress by hiring a professional to take care of it for you.
